Don't go near this - the neighborhood is so dangerous at night that cars don't stop at red lights for fear of hijacking, and the hotel is locked up like a drum. It looks like it's used mostly by hookers.

It was close to Lapa and the metro station.
It is in a poor, rundown area. I had a policeman pull his gun on me as I was walking down the street late at night.

This is not Hilton... But you get what you pay for, and then some. The rooms are simle, but it works. Cleaning is good. The location is superb, 10 mins walk to the centre of Lapa, the best place to be Fri/Sat night in Rio. Just stick to Nem de Sá, and you won´t even need a taxi. For other tours, the metro takes you wherever you want to go. Very good value for money.
The staff did not smile once during two days did they smile, and I got the impression that they would love to work in a hotel, if it wasn´t for the guests there. It seemed like we were mostly annoying to them. And if ever there´s a fire in this place, trust me, you are in lots of trouble...
